Release Notes

CuttingEdge.Logging is a library that helps the programmer output log statements to a variety of output targets in .NET applications. The design is based on the .NET 2.0 Provider Model. This means the library uses the same configuration and extensibility model and .NET developers should very fast feel very familiar with CuttingEdge.Logging.

This new release will fix several minor bugs and some internal code changes were made.

New features
  • No new features were added to this release.

Bug fixes
  • When configuring an provider with no default constructor the thrown exception was not very descriptive.
  • SqlLoggingProvider and AspNetSqlLoggingProvider threw NullReferenceException when a non-existing connectionStringName was supplied (WorkItem 4763)
  • Logger threw TypeLoadException when invalid value was set in type attribute (WorkItem 4762)
  • DebugLoggingProvider did not log. (WorkItem 4721)
  • Fixed several typos in documentation.
  • Fixed one of the exception messages that was thrown in case the logging provider failed to initialize. The message incorrectly referred to an error in the <configSections> section.
